The skills of celluloid eyeglass craftsmen have been passed down through the generations in Sabae.

Celluloid is hard yet has a flexible springiness, so glasses carved out of sheets of it are less likely to deform even when thin sheets are used.
For this reason, today they are mainly made from thin, 4mm celluloid sheets, which are light and comfortable to wear.
There used to be many 8mm frames available, but because they were heavy and uncomfortable to wear, today only a few products that are more geared towards fashion are in circulation.

In this series, "HEAVY EDITION," the BJ CLASSIC COLLECTION attempted to make glasses from 8mm celluloid sheets for the first time.
These rugged glasses are carved out of extremely thick sheets of wood, and by perfectly inheriting and utilizing the traditional techniques of celluloid craftsmen, and incorporating the latest modern technology to further evolve them, they have created a pair of glasses that fit well and are comfortable to wear, making them one of a kind in the world.

The evolution of tradition and inheritance

"rivet"

The ornament, modeled after the wings of a bald eagle, an icon of the BL CLASSIC COLLECTUION, is made of 925 silver so that you can enjoy the changes that occur over time.

"front"

To make the glasses as light and comfortable as possible, the inside of the front has been machined to create a three-dimensional cut, and the cutting is precise to 0.1mm intervals.

"Hinge"

In order to achieve a comfortable fit with the extremely thick 8mm frame, we have adopted a leaf spring hinge that can add high springiness to the hinge part. It maintains an exquisite hold from the temples to the ears, and is comfortable to wear without getting tired even when worn for a long time.

"Clings & nose pads"

In order to firmly support the weight placed on the front, we have devised a method of heat-treating the product to make it harder than regular clips. We have also fine-tuned the length to ensure a firm fit.

The nose pads are made of pure titanium, which feels smooth against the skin and does not cause metal allergies or rust.

"Temple"

To prevent the front from sagging, the temple ends are designed to support the weight of the frame. The thickness is also carefully balanced to provide a comfortable feel against the skin.
