The ability of the frame to hold the lens is very important, as it plays a part in the impact resistance of eyewear, but a misconception has been spread due to the so-called "shotgun performance" of eyewear being shot with a shotgun.
For example, if a baseball hits the eyewear while it is being worn, and the lens does not break due to the impact, but falls off the frame, it will be rated as dangerous.
