About lenses that cut short wavelength light

When light from an infinite distance is separated by a prism, it becomes a spectrum of seven colors. This is because the refractive index of the medium differs depending on the wavelength of the light.

1. Looks sharp

The same thing can be said about the light that enters the eye.
When yellow-green light (555 nm) is imaged on the retina, wavelengths shorter than the yellow-green light (e.g. blue) are imaged in front of the retina, and wavelengths longer than the yellow-green light (e.g. red) are imaged behind the retina. Even if the image appears to be focused on the retina, the focal length will differ depending on the wavelength.
It is not possible to direct all the light onto the retina in this way. When you wear a lens that cuts short wavelength light, the difference in focal length becomes smaller, allowing you to see sharper images.
