【 WILEY X SAVER ADVANCED 】

We want you to know the cost (price) of the SABER ADVANCED last because we want you to be surprised. The SABER ADVANCED, which the U.S. Department of Defense manages and procures under national stock numbers, is a military eyewear featuring a half-rim frame where the left and right temples clip onto the lens. Its robust appearance clearly indicates high impact resistance. Furthermore, its optical performance, achieved through advanced functions and optical lens technology, surpasses traditional military eyewear.

The benefits of the TAKE-FLIGHT™ nose aren't limited to the excellent optical performance achieved by adjusting the lens position and tilt angle. With WILEY X®, the ballistic performance, such as the lens's resistance to shattering, is already secured in the mere 2.0mm thick SELENITE™ lens, achieving impact resistance that exceeds mil-spec. Therefore, the reason for making the SABER ADVANCED lens 3.0mm thick is not simply for ballistic performance, but to improve [the frame's ability to retain the lens].

The [frame's ability to retain the lens], which plays a part in the impact resistance of eyewear, is very important, but a misunderstanding has spread due to "shotgun performance," which involves shooting eyewear with a shotgun.
For example, in baseball, if a baseball directly hits the eyewear during wear, and even if the lens doesn't break from the impact, it would be deemed dangerous if it detaches from the frame. This is because there's a risk of the detached lens pressing the eyeball along with the ball, or the edge of the lens piercing the eyeball. However, when shooting eyewear with a shotgun, even if the lens is blown off the frame, if it doesn't break, it's evaluated as having impact resistance. While a lens that doesn't break from a shotgun is indeed impressive, a "unbroken lens" lying on the ground is nothing more or less than that. It's simply a lens lying on the ground, and its evaluation for eyewear impact resistance would be that "it couldn't withstand the impact of a shotgun."
