WX SHADOW is not a simple Asian fit. The frame, lenses, and everything else are designed for Japanese people from the development and design stage, and it is impact-resistant eyewear that complies with military specifications MIL-PRF-32432 and is ANSI Z87.1 (Z87+) certified. Development of WX SHADOW began in 2012, and in 2013, the prototype "CC Proto 1" was produced for the purpose of fitting surveys, evaluations, and research for Japanese people, and then full-scale development began. The code name is "SHADOW".
From the beginning, the safety, functionality, and design of the Shadow were highly evaluated, so in 2016, a derivative model, the WX TIDE (REGULAR: standard size), was released. After that, the Shadow continued to be investigated, evaluated, and researched, and over a period of seven years, the fitting was highly evaluated by more than 2,000 Japanese people, and the code name Shadow was released as WX Shadow.
The wrap-around design of the FACIAL CAVITY that encases the area around the eyes is one of the revolutionary systems patented by WILEY X. The FACIAL CAVITY gasket, which can be removed from the frame, is made of two layers of urethane foam. One is a flexible and soft foam that fits closely to the shape of the face, and the other is a durable foam that suppresses the deterioration of the foam. This FACIAL CAVITY gasket system also functions as a shock-absorbing pad when the eyewear is subjected to a pressure-resistant impact.
When the FACIAL CAVITY gasket is removed, the WX SHADOW does not fit too tightly to the face, leaving just the right amount of space, making it a perfect fit for Japanese people. It allows for breathability, and while it is impact-resistant eyewear, it also looks and feels "normal."
WX SHADOW is equipped with a T-Peg docking system, which connects the T-Peg strap to the T-Peg connection port at the end of the temple, and provides the same head fixation as goggles, ensuring a secure fit even during intense exercise.
